Frequently Asked Questions
1.Who can benefit from your Intranet Management System ?General case : a company which has proprietary hardware (appliances, network elements, medical equipment, surveillance equipment, etc.) needs a persistent management system with remote control. Some special cases we can integrate with our architecture: 1.Legacy system is available which includes managed elements and database. 2.Multiple databases must be integrated with unified access from GUI 3.Old legacy system got out of control since the vendor/developer is no longer supporting product. Needs a replacement with something simple to manage and maintain. Application Areas : DSL and Cable Modem broadband, warehouse management, manufacturing plant, surveillance equipment, medical, etc. 2.Why should we choose you ?Why not ? Seriously, we challenge you to consider the following when choosing a company to deliver Intranet Management System for you: Many companies claim to deliver a complete or total solution. Ask them the following: Do you provide Web front end, back end interface with proprietary equipment, RDBS, persistent data modeling for the data records of the legacy system and everything in between ? Include custom case scenarios driven from both front end GUI operations and from the back end proprietary equipment. Did you get estimates from well established reliable companies to deliver such system before you contacted us? We recommend you to do so. Does a company you contacted offered a free preliminary technical evaluation and free initial architecture design based on their available Reference Implementation ? Did they show you a running demo of their system (potentially similar to your system) ? And then, again, why not? :=)) 3.What are the stages of your participation and where to start ?
4.At what stage of the development your company can be involved? We prefer the very beginning stage whenever the need arose. If somebody's development is half way through and then stalls, if we can't apply your <not complete> architecture to ours, we might only recommend you to start all over. 5.What allows you to promise so short a life cycle and low expenses to develop such large system? It is the following:
6.How trusted is your company ?Who can be trusted nowadays ? After the last federal court proceedings with the biggest name in the software industry... OK, now really seriously. We believe that trust must not be based on the name but rather developed and maintained by the way how the project is conducted. Schedule of the development and deliveries should guarantee that customer can see and has valuable result from the previous phase before he commits to the next. There should not be a situation ( as we see often in this industry) that customer continues pouring investments into the project which did not show any interim workable results. How can we show results while in the middle of the development? This is why we base our design on our modular architecture, therefore always having working modules to interface with newly developed modules. 7.Why did you choose JAVA ?The simplest way to run a project is to have all pieces written in the same language. Especially when this language also has embedded ways for communications with other homogeneous parts. And who knows another language which makes it simple to build everything from front end Web GUI screens to the multi-threading, interfacing with database, with legacy systems and sending E-Mails? Although most of our experience in the past based on C/C++ , but nowadays we don't assume that customers will continue to have unlimited cash reserves to pay to the developer for non-stop cleaning the bugs related to the memory leaks... 8.Can we use our server platform to install Blansh Server on it?Yes. As our code is in pure JAVA, it is inherently cross-platform. To guarantee this fact we don't use Microsoft tools for development. Though, if other than our Blansh Server platform is used, you take responsibility to administer it during installation. 9.Do you comply with SNMP standards? If your equipment has embedded SNMP protocol, we will build interface with it and respective scenarios to handle. If you have MIB database which implements SNMP MIB requirements, we will handle it as any other proprietary database. But if you just want it, we will ask you : Why do you need them? 10.Do you provide parts of your Blansh Server code to the interested parties ?No. We cannot support broken pieces, therefore it would be irresponsible to sell them. 11.Do you sell your Reference Implementation server code as off-shelf toolkit ?No. 12.What is a current status of your Management System Reference Implementation ?Although it is complete enough to build many projects on it's modules, we continue it's development. During our meetings we may reveal our future directions if deemed necessary within the context of your requirements. 13.Can our company's proprietary hardware which has embedded computer be managed by your system?Yes. This is the primary application of our Intranet Management System. 14.Why Web based GUI? Can you build application GUI connected to the LAN?We can build application GUI without Web involvement. It is actually simpler : no need of one of the tiers - the Web Server. But we found that today most of the businesses desire to have Web based GUI because they:
15.Is it guaranteed that you always accept offer to build a management system for interested party? No. Our free initial evaluation process may reveal some peculiarities in your resources , for example exotic communication protocols (and absence of the bridging equipment), etc.
