    Authorization process

    Following is an architecture of the system implementing the authorization operations.

Authorization procedure:

  1. Log-in request by a Browser Client: Browser->Web Server->Manager Server->Database

  2. Authorization Response: Database->Manager Server->Web Server->Browser Client. Response returns the Authorization Level code.

  3. Web Server generates cookie, returned along with authorization code, and maps it to the authorization level.

  4. Each subsequent request from the Browser Client is verified by the Web Server for authorization and proceeds with request or rejects it. This is 1st level of authorization process.

  5. Browser Client also limits it's operations dependent on the authorization code received from the Server. This is a 2nd level of the authorization process.

  6. Manager Server proceeds with request to the Database as a part of the respective scenario, therefore representing a 3rd level of authorization incorporated in that scenario.

Authorization levels implemented in the Web Server:

    1. Root - superuser.

    2. Operator - only customer operations allowed.

    3. Technician - only access to a number of the hardware records is allowed. Some systems may allow full control of the customer records as well.

    4. Supervisor - only authorization records are allowed to access and update. This is access for a non-technical administrator.
