    Blansh GUI system query screens

The <System Queries> button in the Buttons Bar brings up the following screen

It has two panes: a Tree Pane on the left and a Desktop Pane on the right. Tree has two branches which correspond to two different tools implemented in this tree:

  • All Tables Branch . It is for the database records management for engineers who have the ROOT authorization level. Not intended for normal operations but rather for the system debugging and for emergency operations.

  • Network Elements Branch. For viewing the status of the managed elements in the network and also to do updates to the managed elements by changing the persistent records. This is allowed to the TECHNICIAN and ROOT authorization levels.

All Tables Branch (for ROOT authorization only).

Expand this leaf. It is implemented as a Database Browser tool with one exception from other similar tools on the market: it works in the 4-tier Intranet Management System. This Database Browser (1st tier) sends it's request through the Web Server (2nd tier) to the Manager Server (3rd tier). Database (4th tier) in our Management System is considered a property of the Manager Server.

Clicking on any leaf in this branch will run a query to retrieve all records for the chosen DB table (see example screenshot below). Table window is placed on the Desktop Pane on the right.

This is a first step to analyze DB records. Following are parts of the Desktop screen :

  • Top Table Buttons to invoke table records related operations.

  • Query field: shows a current query from which data for this table was retrieved. This query is automatically generated.

  • Table of row records.

From this point user may continue by manually updating, inserting, deleting records or exporting table data. Viewing and analyzing Table is customer friendly. You can change width of any or all the columns, use scroll bars, replace order of the columns.

Updating records.

There are two ways to do this.

  • Update content of the table fields. Complete changes in one field by either clicking <enter> or clicking on another field of the same row. Complete changes in the row by clicking <Update DB Row>. This will send update command to the Manager Server. Status field will report about success of the operation. Then you can continue with another row. All intuitive operations allowed while changing text in the field including <copy and paste> operations. Only remember to complete any row change by clicking <Update DB Row> button.

  • Bring up a Table Update Dialog screen by choosing a row first and then clicking an <Update Dialog> button.

Example of the Table Update Dialog can be seen as in Authorization Dialog Window.

Following operations can be performed:

  • Select a new query: check boxes against the field which must be matched in the query. Then click <Select query> button. This will update the Table with results from the new query. You can verify your selections looking at the Query Field of the Table.

  • Update text fields and click <Update>. After making all the updates you can verify the content of the database by running a <Refresh> on the Table screen.

  • Insert a new row into the database after entering all the fields. All fields have only text type.
